BTEC National Award Engineering with Design – Full-time
Who will the course suit?
The course is ideal for learners who want to pursuer a career in engineering, but are unsure in what field. It offers experience in mechanical, electrical, electronic and design areas and develops a broad knowledge of engineering technology. Learners may progress onto the National Certificate and Higher Education or seek apprenticeship/ employment opportunities.
What are the entry requirements?
This is a LEVEL 3 Course.
Every college course is given a level 1(lowest) – 5 (highest). This level helps you know what the entry requirements are and if it will be suitable for you. For part-time courses it also indicates the amount of study involved – for example an introductory course would be a lower level if there is not much extra study involved.
To do any Level 3 course you should have:
However, adults do not always need these qualifications, but need enough skills to deal with the course.
Please note that sometimes, even if a learner has the entry requirements for a Level 3 course they will start on a Level 2 course. This happens in practical subjects. This is because learners will need to develop practical skills to a certain level before they can attempt a Level 3 course in these areas.
For all full-time courses and some part-time courses you will be invited to have an informal interview with the tutor. On all courses that interview, a successful interview is also an entry requirement for the course.
In the interview the tutor will see whether you have the potential to progress on the course. It is also a chance for you to find out more about the course.
