BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering – Full-time

Who will the course suit?
The course suits learners, male and female, who wish to gain a recognised Higher Education qualification that will give them the foundation for management, research and development in the Aerospace Industry.
What are the entry requirements?
This is a LEVEL 4 Course.
Every college course is given a level 1(lowest) – 5 (highest). This level helps you know what the entry requirements are and if it will be suitable for you. Level 4 and 5 qualifications are classed as Higher Education qualifications.

In the interview the tutor will see whether you have the potential to progress on the course. It is also a chance for you to find out more about the course.

UCAS Entry Points: 200 - 260 with at least 2 qualifications larger than 3 units (including Mathematics).
How long is the course?
The course is run on a full-time basis over 3 years, starting September.
Delivery is split across 2 sites: the College`s International Centre for Aerospace Training (ICAT) and the University of Glamorgan.
When will I be in College?
Days and times of the course are to be confirmed.
How much study is involved?
You will be taught in College for approximately 22 hours every week, and about 16 – 18 hours additional study is also expected.
What will I study?
You will study a range of subjects on the course including:
Maths; Aero-Science; Computing; Business Aircraft Fluids; Aerodynamics; Emerging Technologies; Aircraft Propulsion; Design and Systems.
How will I be taught?
The course is taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials and practical activities.
How will I be assessed?
Continuous assessment and/ or examination.
What opportunities will the course provide me with?
The BEng demonstrates a commitment and understanding of higher-level activities within the aerospace industry. This level qualification will allow learners access to management, research and development positions in the Aerospace industry.
How much will it cost?
Home and EU Students - £3145 per year
International Students - £9000 per year
From 2007 onwards, students who normally live in Wales and who study in Wales, (who started studying in 2006 or later), are entitled to a tuition fee grant. From 2008, this tuition fee grant is up to £1,890. If you normally live in Wales and stay to study in Wales, this effectively caps your fees at around £1,255 a year. The tuition fee grant is available irrespective of family income, is paid directly to the place of study and does not have to be repaid.
The tuition fee does not have to be paid whilst you are studying. You will be able to take out a student loan for the whole/remainder of the tuition fee, depending on your circumstance, charged by your university or college. And you only start repaying this loan once you have finished studying and are earning more than £15,000 a year.
UK students studying in Wales, who do not normally live in Wales, won’t be eligible for the fee grant.
Non-UK EU students, who study in Wales, will be eligible for the fee grant.
If you are planning on enrolling onto a full-time HE Undergraduate programme, you will be eligible to apply for funding through your Local Education Authority. Contact your LEA from March, and they will send you an application form (PN1) to establish your eligibility for student financial support. After providing your family’s income, the LEA will then work out how much support you are entitled to, and you can also indicate how much student loan and how much fee loan you would like to take out.
