How much will my course cost?
Owing to changes in the funding arrangements for FE colleges, Barry College has recently had to make a number of changes to the tuition fees for courses. This means that costs included in the College brochure or on course factsheets on the website may now be out of date.
We recommend that you check the most up to date information on the cost of a course by contacting Student Services on Tel: 01446 725007
Key changes are shown below:
Free Courses
In general, we offer free part time courses (subject to a small administration fee of £5 per course) to:
- Persons under the age of 19 on 1st August
- Students in full time education at the time of enrolment, regardless on age
- Learners attending pre-GCSE Numeracy and English Literacy Workshops and ESOL classes (no administrative charge).
Fee Reductions.
Are available on nearly a hundred part time courses. For these courses, students in receipt of Job Seeker’s Allowance, Incapacity Benefit, Income Support or Pension Credit and their unwaged dependents will pay:
- £25 if the full course fee is under £250
- £50 if the course fee is £250 or over.
Students receiving Working Tax Credit will be charged 50% of the full course.
Please note that the fees for AAT courses are priced to include the cost of compulsory simulations
All students need to bring proof of identity as well as proof of benefits claimed or proof of full-time education, to gain fee remission.
Instalments
Where fees are £400 or more, you may be able to pay in three instalments - although the first must be for 50% of the fee.
International students
Please note that in order to be eligible for ‘home fees status’ you should normally have 3 years of normal residency in the UK or European Union prior to start of the course or qualify in some other way such as being a migrant worker, refugee or asylum-seeker receiving government assistance. If you are in doubt over your status, please bring your passport and any other Boarder Agency documentation with you when you come to enrol.
