Would you like to work with children?
Barry College has an excellent reputation for training people to work in childcare. We train people starting a new career as well as those already working with children who want to gain a formal qualification. Our practical full-time courses are ideal if you are looking for a career in childcare. You may want to work in a nursery or playgroup, in after school care or play work schemes, or as a nanny. Many learners on the Level 3 courses also go onto university. On all courses you get great work experience – either in the active Childcare Centre at the College or outside the College. Part-time courses are flexible and can be studied day release or in the evening. This allows you to fit learning around your busy lifestyle, whether you want to start a new career or improve your career prospects in childcare. Some professional courses are specialised and allow you to develop you skills and knowledge in a specific area, such as working with children with special needs or working with babies. Where can it take me? Our full-time courses have a great success rate. Nearly all learners this year progressed onto a higher level course in College or university, or went directly into employment in childcare. In the last 2 years learners on the CACHE Diploma have progressed to university to study degrees including primary teaching, child psychology, education and teaching. Many learners on full-time courses gain employment with an organisation they do work experience with. Emily Hop, 20, Barry Diploma in Childcare and Education “I came to College straight from school as I knew I wanted to work with children and study childcare. I found College a great experience and really enjoyed the mix between being in College and the work placements.”
