Would you like to develop a career as an Administrator, Medical or Legal Secretary, Personal Assistant or Receptionist?
Our administration courses offer you the opportunity to develop a career working in a range of office based jobs. Whether you are looking to start, further or change career – there’s a course for you. All courses provide you with a range of specialist computing, office and communication skills. Courses are practical and all learners improve their skills in a work setting, whether work experience or an existing job. Work experience is gained with external organisations as well as in training facilities at the College. One popular way of learning in this area is through an apprenticeship. You would need to find a job in administration and then come to College whilst working. This would lead to an industry recognised NVQ qualification. If you choose this route you will come to College one day a week and attend work 4 days a week. All courses lead to employer recognised qualifications and past learners have gained employment in a range of businesses in the area. Our long-running medical and legal secretaries courses supply local organisations with valuable, trained, specialist administration staff for the health and legal sectors. Where can it take me? Last year, all those who completed the Certificate in IT & Administration progressed. Some went onto the AMSPAR or Legal Secretaries courses, while others went directly into employment. Last year, many learners who achieved the ILEX Legal Secretaries qualification gained employment in local and city solicitors. Lisa Norman, 20, Barry Administration apprenticeship “The support I have received and the experience I have had at the College has been great. I have already achieved my NVQ 2 in Administration and am now working towards my NVQ 3. As I have chosen the apprenticeship route, which means I attend College one day a week and work 4 days a week, I am getting vital experience whilst gaining qualifications.” Ann Edwards, Barry Legal Secretaries “The legal secretaries course gave my the skills, knowledge, qualifications and also confidence to get a job I wanted working in administration in a law firm. It has been a great experience”.
