Want a career in painting and decorating?

Barry College construction courses are recognised as some of the best in the country. Painting and decorating courses are taught at Barry College Colcot Road in Barry.

There are two ways to train for a career in painting and decorating.

The first way is to find a relevant job and come to College whilst working and gain NVQ qualifications. If you choose this route you will come to College one day a week.

Alternatively, if you are not employed in the industry you can study a full-time course at College. On a full-time course you can gain a qualification in under 2 years that gives you the skills to progress into work as a painting and decorating tradesperson. Once in work, you can then gain the vital industry experience to convert your qualification into a NVQ – the requirement to become a fully qualified and registered painting and decorating tradesperson.

We also offer popular introduction courses various aspects of in painting and decorating. These are useful if you are considering a career in painting and decorating and want to learn more about it or if you want to learn these skills for your own enjoyment or DIY.

Where can it take me?
There is a need for skilled and qualified painting and decorating professionals. In South Wales large scale building projects such as St David’s 2 Shopping Centre, the International Sports Village and the Defence Training Academy require hundreds of local painting and decorating professionals over the next decade.

Most construction students secure a job in their chosen trade by the end of their course, with over 50% gaining apprenticeship employment during their course.
