Do you want an exciting career in Travel & Tourism?

Our full-time travel and tourism courses train learners to progress into careers in the UK and abroad. The general travel and tourism full-time courses give learners a good understanding of the industry. They also give a practical knowledge, with most learners undertaking work experience in UK attractions and abroad.

The advantage of studying Travel and Tourism courses at Barry College is that all courses offer additional industry relevant qualifications, for example foreign languages and ABTA endorsed City and Guilds qualifications.

Our professional full-time courses including Travel Agency, Overseas Representatives and Cabin Crew offer excellent career opportunities. From these courses learners benefit from the College industry links and most secure employment by the end of their course.

The College also offers part-time courses for people working in Travel and Tourism, looking to further their career prospects. These courses are more flexible and fit in around your job.

On all courses learners gain a current overall understanding of the industry, and also benefit from the experience of lecturers who currently, or have previously worked in Travel and Tourism.

Where will it take me?
Last year, after completing full-time courses learners gained employment in travel agencies, with tour operators, airlines, and a variety of tourist attractions. Some also progressed to higher education.

Last year, 19 out of the 20 learners on the Cabin Crew course gained employment in the airline industry by the end of their course.  The other learner is now studying an Aircraft Engineering course at Barry College.

Andrew Halse, 27, Penarth
Overseas Resort Representatives
“The Overseas Resort Representatives course has given me confidence and has helped me to achieve my dream job.  It’s hard work but it has certainly paid off at the end and I’m really looking forward to working as a Customer Service Rep in Gran Canaria.”

Lucy Nessbert, 24, Cardiff
Cabin Crew Course
“After completing the Cabin Crew course, I gained employment with Gulf Air – one of the most prestigious airlines in the world.  I re-located from Cardiff to be based in Bahrain - part of the United Arab Emirates in the Middle East.  I really enjoy living in Bahrain.  I spend a lot of time working - flying all over the world!  I get to see so many different places with my job, flying to Sydney, Singapore and Hong Kong – it’s so exciting and all because of the course I studied at College!”
