Would you like to become a plumber?Do you work in the industry and need gas qualifications?
Plumbing courses are taught at our purpose built, state of the art Plumbing and Gas Training & Assessment Centre at Barry College Colcot Road in Barry. This centre can train you to start a career as a plumber, as well as support you throughout your career, offering gas and related qualifications required by industry. If you wish to become a plumber there are two ways to train. The first way is to find a job in plumbing and come to College whilst working to gain NVQ qualifications. If you choose this route you will come to College one day a week. Alternatively, if you are not employed in the industry you can study a full-time course at College. On a full-time course you can gain a qualification in around 3 years that gives you the skills to progress into work as a plumbing tradesperson. Once in work, you can then gain the vital industry experience to convert your qualification into a NVQ – the requirement to become a fully qualified and registered tradesperson. Our Gas Training & Assessment Centre provides a modern training facility for professionals, running courses throughout the year. It offers the full range of gas and related courses required by plumbers, gas fitters, heating and ventilation engineers and other similar roles. We work with you to ensure you offer a safe, professional service that meets industry requirements, including those to fulfil CORGI registration, throughout your career. Where can it take me? There is a need for skilled and qualified plumbers. In South Wales large scale building projects such as St David’s 2 Shopping Centre, the International Sports Village and the Defence Training Academy continue this need over the next decade. Most plumbing learners secure a job in their chosen trade by the end of their course, with over 50% gaining apprenticeship employment during their course. Matthew Jeffery “I work for the Vale of Glamorgan Council as a Plumbing and Heating Engineer on public buildings and community housing. I undertook my original training with Barry College as an apprentice. Now I’m fully qualified it is great to know I can return here throughout my career to update my professional qualifications when I need to.” Huw Marks “I completed my training to become a Plumbing and Heating Engineer with Barry College.
